Urker Music Foundation - Leuster
Since 1997, Leuster has kept the Urk dialect alive through song. Their old website was hacked, and the foundation could no longer access it. In two weeks, we built a new website that Leuster can update themselves, and that we now host and maintain.

A lost website
The Stichting tot instandhouding van het Urker lied (the foundation for preserving the Urk song) was founded in 1997. With Leuster, the first real band in the Urk dialect, the foundation has been releasing CDs of songs in the Urk language for more than twenty-five years. For a foundation like this, the website is where people find the band, the songs and the latest news.
That website was hacked. The cause was nothing unusual, but it is common: nobody was installing updates anymore. Outdated software simply stays online, and sooner or later someone finds the weak spot.
On top of that, the foundation no longer had access to the old website, so restoring it was not an option. Leuster was looking for someone who could build a new website, and who would then make sure this did not happen again.
Starting over
With nothing left to save, we started with a clean slate. Not a copy of the old site, but a new website that suits Leuster.
The new site includes:
- a homepage with a slideshow of the band and the latest CD;
- a news section, with a page of its own for every post;
- an overview of every CD, each with its track list, the full lyrics, links to streaming services and the chords to download;
- the foundation's story, from the first CD in 1997 to today;
- a contact page with the foundation's details.
Leuster manages the news and the songs themselves, through a simple admin environment. A new CD with lyrics and chords goes online in no time, without having to call us.
Staying secure after launch
A new website solves today's problem. Good maintenance stops it from happening again. That is why we host Leuster's website and keep it up to date.
If something we manage does get infected, we clean it up. For Leuster, that means no more worrying about updates.
Two weeks, and a great collaboration
The whole project took two weeks. That pace was possible thanks to a good collaboration with the foundation. The result is a website Leuster can be proud of again, and one that stays secure.
